This year, we have enjoyed exploring lots of local natural habitats with our most recent being a grassland habitat under the excellent guidance of Michael and Gerard from Acres West Connacht, a Department of Agriculture-led initiative which works with farmers to help protect grassland habitats for nature. Our exploration began with an in-school presentation on…
Earlier this week, on a gloriously sunny day, we travelled to Masshill Forest. First, we stopped off at Mass Rock and before doing any exploration, Martina, our guide for the day, showed us how to make a little 8-page booklet in which we could record interesting bits about our day. Then we headed up to…
With Easter upon us, we got busy with some Easter art. Using milk cartons, paint and colouring materials, and various craft materials we created lovely Easter baskets which looked even more spectacular when we filled them up with chocolates and Easter chicks! What a lovely treat to gift someone special at home. We also decorated…

We enjoyed writing and debating persuasive texts about why Alfie from…
Recently as a homework activity, we were tasked with constructing a bedroom. We used a cardboard box, lots of fabric and various recyclable materials to create some very unique bedrooms which we enjoyed showing to our friends. This was a very interesting activity and we enjoyed the opportunity to work as an interior designer.

Then, we compiled all our information onto poster paper with added illustrations. With the text and illustrations complete, we rehearsed our oral presentations before presenting our work to the class. We love…
