On Friday, 10th February, we participated in the “10@10” event in association with Operation Transformation. We didn’t quite do the “10@10” though but we think we did better as we did “30@9.10”, ie. we walked down to the end of the road which runs alongside our school and back in a time of 30 minutes….
Sr. Patricia visited us last week as part of our preparation for Confirmation. First of all we made a huge jigsaw which we found quite challenging despite working as a class group. The jigsaw depicted a wonderfully colourful rural scene and we discussed it at length as we looked for religious symbols represented in it….
On Tuesday, 22nd December we performed our Christmas plays. The children from the Junior Room wowed everyone with their amazing acting and singing in their play about poor Santa who lost his hat. Luckily the elves found his hat just before he set out to visit all the boys and girls on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately…
West Midlands Children’s Theatre performed their show “The Legend of the Golden Dragon” today and it was just brilliant. The actors were fabulous and played multiple roles with amazing ease while the scenery, sound and lighting effects were so effective and really added to the performance. We were delighted to get an opportunity to play…
Yesterday, we set out for a picnic but ended up in “Happy Days”. We had a very active session as we ran, climbed, played, danced, descended the amazing slides and engaged in lots more energetic activities. The staff were kept busy providing us with refreshments. After leaving this great play centre, we had our picnic…
We had an amazing day in Shannon River Adventure Centre despite a few showers of rain. We loved the climbing wall, the archery and the spider game. The kayaking was really great too even though we seemed to frequently “fall” into the water. All the infant children loved their boat trip but best of all…
Sports Day took place this week and it was a lot of fun. We had sprint races, cross country running, sack race, three-legged race, spider race, wheelbarrow race and many other novelty events. We also had a penalty kicking competition and a tug of war. Our final events involved “a little water”and we got a…
Today, Simon O’Dwyer visited our school to give a presentation on music through the ages. He showed us some fascinating “instruments” such as bones, shells, horns, bells and bows. We marvelled at the tunes he could play with such ordinary objects and next time we go to the sea or wander in the fields we…
To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, we donned our country’s national colours. It was quite spectacular seeing all of us bedecked in green. We ended the day with an Easter Egg Hunt.
Today was a very special day in our school as like every other school throughout the country we celebrated the centenary of the 1916 Rising. We raised the national flag which had earlier been delivered to us by the Defence Forces and we read out the “Proclamation for a New Generation” which we had written especially…
