Recently as a homework activity, we were tasked with constructing a bedroom. We used a cardboard box, lots of fabric and various recyclable materials to create some very unique bedrooms which we enjoyed showing to our friends. This was a very interesting activity and we enjoyed the opportunity to work as an interior designer.
Bímid i gcónaí an-ghnóthach ag obair as Gaeilge. Bhaineamar a lán taitnimh as ‘Cé Mise’ a imirt i mbeirteanna chomh maith le léitheoreacht i mbeirteanna. Os rud é go rabhamar ag obair ar an dtéama ‘Éadaí’, bhí an-áthas orainn seó faisin a eagrú agus an dán ‘Fear Bréige‘ agus ‘An Maith Leat Éadaí?’ a scríobh…
Maths always keeps us busy in the senior room and recently we have explored Measures, namely Capacity, Weight, Length, Money and Time. We have also worked on Area and many different areas of number. Online activities and problem-solving using Mathscards have helped to reinforce many of the core areas of the Maths curriculum.
After reading about dramatic cave and mining rescues, we decided to explore ‘Energy’. Working in groups, we researched renewable and non-renewable energy sources. Then, we compiled all our information onto poster paper with added illustrations. With the text and illustrations complete, we rehearsed our oral presentations before presenting our work to the class. We love…
In visual arts, while exploring ‘Paint and Colour’, we have been working on developing our skills in the use of oil pastels. First, we worked on drawing and colouring a bird on a white background and then we worked on completing a flower on a coloured background. We enjoyed completing both pictures as we love…
An mhí seo, bhíomar ag obair ar ‘Éadaí’ sa Ghaeilge. Chun deireadh a chur leis ár n-obair, bheartaíomar seó faisin a reachtáil sa seomra ranga. Ghléasamar suas i ngach sórt éadaí (d’úsáid cúpla páistí rudaí athchúrsáilte chun éadaí a dhéanamh nó a mhaisiú). Ansin, i mbeirteanna, scríobheamar cur síos ar chulaith a chéile. Leis an…

The new primary curriculum recognises the key role parents and guardians play in their child’s education and promotes a partnership approach which will encourage increased communication between schools and parents/guardians. In this regard, the Department, in collaboration with the National Council…
In history, after reading lots and lots about explorers including Christopher Columbus, Marco Polo, Vasco da Gama, James Cook, Ferdinand Magellan, Tom Crean, Hernan Cortés, etc., we decided to showcase our knowledge by completing a project. In groups, we wrote out lots of facts with added illustrations and after sticking our material onto backing paper,…
