Earlier this month, we headed to Skreen to participate in a tag rugby blitz with some local schools. With the rain lashing down, it looked initially as if we might have to play indoors but, fortunately, the weather improved and we were led onto the field. We had lots of fun getting ‘good and muddy’…
This year, we were thrilled to welcome Orla, one of our parents, to our school to help us with some Christmas cake decorating. We rolled out the icing and after laying it over our cakes, we cut it into shape. Then we used left-over bits of icing and other coloured icing pieces to decorate our…
We really enjoyed our Christmas performances this year. Our junior play and senior play were both excellent with amazing acting and singing to entertain our very enthusiastic audience. Our finale was also pretty special as we added an extra bit of dialogue and singing to congratulate one of our parents who was celebrating a ‘big’…
We are quite progressive in the senior room and have recently been experimenting with website design. One of our pupils has already created a few websites including one on ‘Ungulates’ as part of her animal project. Well done to this very talented young lady who is inspiring us all to push the boundaries in all…
This week, four of our pupils participated in the Cumann na mBunscol Quiz County Final. As you can see, they were ‘all smiles’ before the quiz started and they certainly had something to smile about when all the scores were totted up as they achieved 2nd place! We are very proud of this clever foursome…
Group project work always gets us excited in the senior room as we love working collaboratively. Our most recent project was on a country outside of Europe. After conferring with group members, Nigeria, Tanzania, United Arab Emirates and Turkey were chosen as the countries to study. We conducted lots of research online and in textbooks…
Earlier this month, we held a Book Fair at our school. We were very excited as we waited for the trolleys to open and then we really enjoyed exploring all the books prior to deciding which books we’d like to purchase. Of course, some of us enjoyed spending our book vouchers which we had won…
Our latest project was an individual one on animals. Each of us choose an animal or species of animal to research and after compiling lots of facts and images, we presented our work on slides. Later, with our oral presentation rehearsed, the first group of pupils presented their projects to the whole class. We thoroughly…
Christmas excitement is building in our school and, this week, we put up our Christmas tree and other decorations. Our youngest pupil topped our Christmas tree with our angel and then we gathered around to sing some Christmas songs. We just love Christmas and we’re being very careful to be ‘as good as gold’.
We love out-of-school trips and so were delighted to head off to watch, ‘The Snowman‘ in the Hawk’s Well Theatre, Sligo. This was a really brilliant show with wonderful narration by Robert Fitzpatrick who along with the other cast members did an amazing job of bringing this wonderful story (which was originally told entirely through…
