Over the past few weeks, we took on an inspiring project focused on famous women in history. Each of us worked either individually, in pairs, or in small groups to research the life and legacy of one remarkable woman. With our work spanning a range of areas – from civil rights and science to politics and education, we explored the lives of influential figures such as: Rosa Parks, Virginia Hall, Princess Diana, Mary Robinson, Malala Yousafzai, Emmeline Pankhurst, Countess Markievicz, Anne Frank and Marie Curie.
After gathering our information through online research, we created informative and visually engaging online presentations. We then presented our work to the class which helped to broaden our knowledge on the various women studied and also to build confidence in our public speaking skills.
This project was not only an opportunity to strengthen our research, design, and presentation abilities, but it also encouraged us to reflect on the values these women represent, e.g. courage, determination, compassion, and leadership. Their stories continue to inspire change today and remind us of the importance of standing up for what is right.
