Last year, we participated in ‘The Power to Change project’ (run by the Atlantic Technological University in partnership with Sligo Public Participation Network PPN) which aimed to develop a nature-based learning workbook on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The workbook was geared towards 10–12-year-olds and 4 different schools participated in the co-creation of the workbook. As part of this project, we completed lots of activities, e.g. research, investigations and artwork from the original ‘SDGs and Me’ workbook. On 27th February, Climate Education Clubs Celebration Day, we were invited to the Clayton Hotel, Sligo for the launch of the revised ‘SDGs and Me – Nurturing our World’ workbook. As part of the launch, we were presented with several copies of the revised workbook, we watched a video which showcased the work of the participating schools, we listened to various environmentalists speak about the importance of caring for our environment and we also completed lots of engaging activities, including a biodiversity hunt and the creation of a mini-garden. We were also treated to a delicious dinner. On our bus journey home and later at school, we excitedly perused the new workbook and we were thrilled to find lots and lots of our work was included. We now have a wonderful resource to use for when we next work on the Sustainable Development Goals.
