The Big Toy Swap

Last week, we held a very successful Big Toy Swap in our classroom. Children from both classrooms brought in some of their previously-loved toys and books which were then placed on display tables for our prospective ‘customers’ to view. Our senior girls also set up a ‘Beauty Parlour’ where children could have make-up, hair and nails done as they pondered over what toys to get. Needless to say, our ‘beauticians’ were kept very busy indeed! One boy (who is also a bit of an artist!) displayed some of his work and he also provided a chair for anyone who wanted their portrait drawn. Another boy shared stories from some of his favourite GAA books while other children displayed their rather large guns and quite impressive LEGO creations. We were delighted to see lots of interest in all of the toys, the books and the aforementioned additional extras and when the event concluded, we were particularly delighted to see all toys had been swapped. Definitely, you could say we did our bit towards ‘Saving the planet. one toy at a time’.
