School Tour!

Earlier this week, we went on our school tour to Westport House and we really enjoyed all the fun activities. First of all, there was the great adrenaline rush as we took to the ‘Giant Swing’. It was both scary and amazing but we absolutely loved it. Next, we were taken on a tour of Westport House and dungeons, and it was really interesting to hear the story of the house from the time it was built by Colonel John Browne, who was married to Maud Bourke, the great-great-granddaughter of Grace O’Malley, to its recent purchase by the Hughes family, owners of Portwest. The Hughes family have already started major refurbishment of the house and we look forward to seeing this impressive building restored to its former glory. After a ride on ‘The Westport House Express Train’, we tested our climbing skills and nerve on the climbing wall and then we headed to the Net Park. We concluded the day’s activities with a session on the slides. Still full of energy, we headed to Westport town for a little shopping and food. Lots of us invested in some sportswear (you can never have enough GAA jerseys!) and then, with our pockets empty, we headed home. This was another great St. Joseph’s N.S. tour – now, where will they take us next year?

The Giant Swing – the squeals say it all!!!!
