Recently, the children in 5th and 6th class celebrated their Confirmation Day. It was a really special day for each one of them as they gathered with their families, friends and local community to celebrate this important event. Each child participated in the ceremony and after the ceremony, there was the customary photoshoot with an extra bit of history attached to it this year as Bishop John Fleming is shortly to retire from his role as Bishop of Killala. Back at school, during post-Confirmation discussions, it was decided that the children would donate some of the money received as gifts to charity. With ‘The Alzheimer Society of Ireland’ chosen as the charity, we were delighted to welcome Clair, who works with the Sligo branch, to our school. We presented our donation to Clair and also a lovely letter written by Seán. Clair told us a little about her work and later she forwarded a lovely letter thanking us for our donation in addition to acknowledging Seán’s lovely letter.
