Junior Classroom
Exploring Science
We had such an exciting time exploring many of the strands in the Science curriculum during Science week. Some amazing experiences were created which encouraged discovery through play, asking questions, exploration and using creativity to solve simple problems. As the Primary Science Curriculum outlines; a scientific approach to investigations fosters the development of important skills, concepts and knowledge through which children can observe, question, investigate, understand and think logically about living things and their environments, materials, forces, everyday events and problems. The children are encouraged to describe, discuss, predict, explain, hypothesise and analyse ideas. Language is important, too, in helping children to access and to retrieve information and to record and communicate ideas We certainly developed our scientific skills this week through questioning, observing, predicting, investigating and experimenting, estimating and measuring, analysing sorting and classifying and recording and communicating. Here are some of the experiments we carried out and we really loved all the experiments some of the children themselves brought in to teach us some more about the wonderful world of Science!
