Drama – The Wheel Monster

In 3rd and 4th Class, we really enjoyed reading an extract from “The Incredible Journey of Walter Rat” written by Alan Browne. After discussing the story, we used drama to explore the story even further. In our drama, we acted out a scene from the story after Walter had decided to explore the world beyond the pond in the misty mountains where he lived with his brothers and sisters. Some children took on the role of Walter’s brothers and sisters who never wanted to answer his “tiresome” questions while another child took on the role of Walter’s mother who is very upset when Walter does not return. We enjoy using drama to explore story as it really helps us to better understand the characters in the story.
