Last weekend, some of our 5th and 6th class pupils celebrated their Confirmation. They had prepared very well for this big occasion and performed excellently with their assigned role, e.g. reading, singing or offering gifts. They all looked amazing too. Later in the week, to celebrate the importance of this occasion, and to acknowledge how…
This week, we participated in the GAAmigos skills competition. We worked very hard on all the various skills and, though we didn’t feature among the prizewinners, we had a really wonderful evening playing and socialising with our friends.
Well done to our four fabulous pupils who achieved 2nd place in the county final of the Cumann na mBunscol Quiz. What a great achievement. Later, they (with one change to personnel) represented our school in the Connacht final and while they were not placed in the top three, we are still very proud of…
In January 2024, a ‘Whole-School Evaluation – Management, Leadership and Learning‘ inspection occurred in our school. This inspection, one of a variety of inspections conducted in primary schools, inspects the quality of teaching, learning, management and leadership in a school. It affirms good practice and makes recommendations, where appropriate, to aid the further development of…
This week, four of our pupils participated in the Cumann na mBunscol Quiz County Final. As you can see, they were ‘all smiles’ before the quiz started and they certainly had something to smile about when all the scores were totted up as they achieved 2nd place! We are very proud of this clever foursome…
Earlier this month, we held a Book Fair at our school. We were very excited as we waited for the trolleys to open and then we really enjoyed exploring all the books prior to deciding which books we’d like to purchase. Of course, some of us enjoyed spending our book vouchers which we had won…
We always greet Gerry, our friendly postmen, with much enthusiasm but today, we were even more excited to see him as he had a letter for 3 of our pupils. We all waited eagerly for those lucky pupils to open their surprise letter and were thrilled to be informed that they had won a prize…
This week, Conor from Sligo GAA Coaching visited our school to conduct the GAAmigos in-school competition. We worked hard at the various skills and, in the end, all competitors were ‘neck and neck’. However, with scores and time being considered, Conor did manage to choose a boys’ and a girls’ team. We congratulate the winners…
This week, one of our senior pupils participated in a local radio quiz show and, unsurprisingly (she is a clever girl!), she won a STEM box for our school. We are really proud of our winning little lady and we are looking forward to getting stuck into the STEM box activities.
Gaelic football is a very popular sport in our school and community so we were all thrilled when we heard that St. Farnan’s Ladies were in the U-13 County Final and also in the Junior-B Final. Two of our pupils are on the U-13 team while many of our past pupils are on both teams….
