Friendship Drama

Drama always gets us excited and we really enjoyed using drama, to explore the SPHE topic, ‘My Friends and other People‘. Our explorations included lots of drama techniques, e.g. freeze frames, conscience alley, thought tracking, brainstorming, improvisations, mime, small group playmaking, following a script, etc. We, particularly, enjoyed collaboratively creating an object using the number of children as called out by the teacher, e.g. car (5); bed(4); piano(2); etc. Performing the script was also a lot of fun and we had great conversations and ‘arguments’ as Friend 1 worked through the dilemma of whether or not he should listen to Friend 2 and exclude another child from his party. Using ‘thought tracking’ while engaging in the dramatic performance really got us to think carefully about our feelings and thoughts as did ‘conscience alley’. This dramatic activity was very enjoyable and it really helped us to explore friendships and how peer pressure and the actions of others can impact our relationships.
