Senior Classroom
Hessian Craft
Recently, we completed some lovely craft work using hessian fabric. Working with a square or rectangular piece of hessian, each of us experimented with different stitches to create a pattern or design. The creation of the stitches was difficult at first as we had to perfect threading the needle, beginning and ending a series of stitches, correct placement and sizing of the stitches, pulling the thread through fully, etc. but after a while we got the hang of it and the task of sewing became less difficult. On completion of the lesson(s), we had used many different stitches to create some lovely pieces of sewing craft. This was a perfect introduction to sewing and we plan to further develop our sewing skills during the next school year.
